What the v1 version does is not that it lets you open chests without cooldown, but rather that normally you can only have one chest on cooldown at a time. With the mod, you can have all the chests on cooldown at the same time.
I somewhat understand the rationale behind the other changes, though I still think it's a bit silly to go from a max of 5x to 3x instead of just letting people decide for themselves what is appropriate, but what is the point behind changing the low upgrade cost option? Things still get rather...
Update: Opening two "progress" event chests within a short period of time does indeed trigger an auto-ban. Not exactly sure what the requirements are before you can open them again.
The event chests themselves might be fine, but I did get banned after unlocking two "progress" chests (the ones that have a bar you need to fill up first) in a day. I think it was like the third chest in total I had gotten?
No idea. It could be a daily limit, it could be a max resources spent limit, it could be a successive limit. I just know that I got banned when I bought 2 x10 event chests in a row.
