It just soft-locks when trying to make the "free" IAPs. It says tap to continue and then the item just hangs there and the screen is locked until the app is reopened. At which point, it doesn't remember the purchase. Edit: The IAP for the wheel thing doesn't lock it but it similarly doesn't register as having been purchased.
