Yes. I've been caught up with the story since 2023. The task format is more or less similar to when you were a student, but the context is certainly more realistic and mature, sometimes even relatable if you're a grown-up audience. Though Beyond's timeline aligns with the books, the first two volumes primarily focus on our own work. I reckon this will continue until Voldemort’s resurrection in the fourth book, which coincides with Volume 4 in Beyond (in the future).
Is Beyond CANON to the books?
We are what I call as loosely canon. We are connected to the canon story but isn't strictly part of it. While we reference established lore, some events and character interactions don’t fully align with JKR’s books. Hogwarts Legacy falls into the same category, but since it’s set in the 1800s, its impact on the original timeline is minimal, giving the developers more creative freedom. Hogwarts Mystery (Beyond), however, takes place within the book’s timeline, so to avoid disrupting established events, our MC operates behind the scenes. We're still involved in some key moments, sometimes even influencing certain decisions. But the ultimate outcomes remain unchanged. Even if our existence isn’t acknowledged in canon, it’s still exciting to see our MC playing a role in the HP universe. This game is like an official fanfiction.
