It's quite obvious that he probably PVP'd in arena with the hacks on. That's the only reason I would see a ban anyway because they're probably monitoring that.

I completed the story but no ban. entered the PVP without realizing that I was using the hack version and got banned (noted that I just started PVP so I don't if you will get banned using the legit version)
