Not now, but dont tried to fuse the units beyond 6 stars because the Squad menu will be crashed (All units will be Katherine instead of your actual units) and you wont be able to upgrade new units anymore. This game is still in Early Access and they dont have the content for 6 star units for now.
As for resource gains, its just slow and boring to wait. Also, they have major issue with Currency because they skip the 0 by 1 units like if you only have 20k Gold, it shown 200k instead of the true value itself which confused everyone who tried to upgrade your own units.
