In case anyone else was wondering & you're teetering on the edge of "boomerisim" like me.....
Restarted phone, free in app bundle activated & after a couple of levels a bundle appeared on the bottom of the right side with a claim button. That's the free inapp bundle. It does try to connect to the store but you get the error popup but then the purchased popup opens. That remains to be claimed as long as the mod option is activated & you claim it.
