Very very few games will allow true Google Play, Facebook, etc, login without root, or using an emulated space like, Virtual Master, VMOS, etc. What you're referring to was 99% probability not a true login via Google Play, but instead was a function allowing you to login with Google (not Google Play).

Edit: also, some games sync your device ID with that game across Google Play, without actually logging in via Google Play, allowing you to uninstall the mod, reinstall directly from Google Play, and successfully continue the game where you left off.

No, not necessarily. You can just use the Efun login route. Create an Efun account, bind it to your non-modded account, uninstall, install the moded apk, then finally login with for Efun account. That circumvents the need to login via Google or Facebook.
