iSeriously has tweeted that the /ping, /title_banners and /announcements were available even during maintenance before. Now it is not available which means some server side changes has been implemented from their side and possibly the updated safetynet. Same with the JP version. Cant say for sure until the global is up.

There is never a guarantee that you can use a mod without having a risk of ban. If you do not accept that risk, stop using mods. However, the protection does not effect my mod as far as I can say as it checks for direct edits which I do not make. But I can be wrong. Risk is on your shoulders, not mine.
