Yes, the spell should be the second prize from the last (the last prize usually a Yellow Notebook), claim the spell first (in this case Avifors). After claiming it, open the Memory Book and activate another Duelling Event, let it sits while you're completing the 1st Duelling Event. After completing the 1st Duelling Event by then you can move to the 2nd Duelling Event you've activated.

Disclaimer: this worked for me more than a year ago, I don't know if this works now. Perhaps, JC has fixed this bug exploitation now, who knows.

In the end it didn't work for me, I tried every step and the same old rivals kept appearing with the same level as always, as I had said I would surely have corrected it.
PD: bombard must be the spell with the highest unfair probability, you use it and it doesn't activate any effect, a rival uses it and it always leaves the effects on you (I know it can be like that with all spells but bombard is the worst for me)

Figures. I don't have high hope for it in the first place. They might have patched this glitch long ago. I was lucky to have exploited it before it's gone.

Yeah, that's why I don't trust any spell with lower base damage with odd probability of causing side effects (except the Blue Fire Spell). In the hand of the opponent, the Exploding Charm a.k.a Bombarda is most likely to have 80% of burn, 75% of stun and 65% of causing both burn and stun during the Duelling Event. While we're on the lower side. I don't get with this probability. Doesn't matter even if I have high attributes. The ol' Flipendo and Depulso are still your best friends that will never betray you.
