Yes, but there are so many different things you can do to get house points that it's almost not worth logging into the game at all. The three sure-fire, safe things you can do are friendship events, dates, and feeding creatures. None of those things will get you house points.

Also f new quest right when event guess either login and give it more time via spending gems(which isn't way to get house points if gems aren't based on continuing story or doing tasks/classes)

The fortunate part about House Pride is that you don't get enrolled in a multiplayer group right away. If you perform any action that gets you house points, however, you'll be added to a group.

There are a huge number of things in the game that can earn your house points. For the next week, the only things you can safely do are grinding friendship levels, dating levels, and feeding creatures. None of those things will get you house points. If you're worried about the newly added TLSQ, however, you'll have to use the gems hack to extend the timer. A lot. That way you can still play through it after the event is over.

Yep! You just can't do anything that would cause you to earn house points. I'm sure the TLSQ itself will have several instances where you have the opportunity to earn or lose them, so you'll have to hold off on actually playing it until next week. Same goes for things like playing through the main story or grinding study sessions - those will get you house points too. But you can extend the timer as much as you want, I think.
