Can someone explain how does free craft works? Is there a condition like the split?
Free Craft in this Last Day on Earth: Survival mod lets you craft items without needing the required resources/materials.
To use it:
- Open the mod menu (usually via overlay button).
- Toggle *Free Craft* ON.
- Go to your crafting menu/interface (e.g., workbench, world map crafting) and craft normally—the game won't block you for missing items.
Notes on how it behaves:
- It bypasses resource checks, but if you *do* have the exact materials in your inventory, the mod may still consume them. (To avoid this, craft without having them or clear inventory first.)
- Suggestion from users: Do free crafting on the world map (before entering locations/dungeons) for best results, as it can be finicky inside areas.
Yes, there are conditions similar to Free Split—mainly server-synced areas like the Settlement (or Crater):
- Free Split (which duplicates items via splitting stacks to "get more") doesn't work in the Settlement because resources there are server-connected—they vanish on restart or trigger "error: restart game" when building/using. It only works reliably on stackable items (>1 stack size) in your personal inventory, not singles/weapons/armor reliably.
- Free Craft has the same issue: It often fails or is unreliable in the "Settlement"(server-locked items/blueprints). You can't freely craft/dupe special settlement items (they're time-locked or require legit parts), though you can sometimes dupe materials via split on settlement machines/equip. Users report it "cannot use in settlement" or only accepts "original parts you made."
Other Free Craft conditions/limitations:
- Movement speed hack conflict: In some updates, enabling speed hack made Free Craft unusable—turn it OFF to fix.
- May crash occasionally or not work post-update until mod fix.
