C18 saying that mod includes an iPatch is a stretch. All it does is add the ability to change the characters' names... (Using the name variables already included by the dev)
1) It does nothing to alter the story to make calling any of the characters by a family term like "Mom" make any sense. Not when the first two sentence of the game are about how the MC doesn't remember his parents, and he continuously talks about being abandoned and having no family.
2) The game dev was very inconsistent with their use of the name variables, so half the time you will still call characters by their hard-coded original names regardless of what you set.
3) Other characters will also sometimes call them by the name you chose, so for example if you change Anna to "Mom" to be like the original game that WoS is a remake of, Monica will also sometimes call Anna "Mom".
