The growing consensus is update through play store. Then use platinmods apk. I did not do this and screwed up and ended up back to the original play store version now cannot load the mod over it.

My progress will not get lost na? I login through my Google id

Here's the 2nd method. This is what worked for me.
Only works if you have apk signature disabled with luckypatcher.
1. Uninstall DoZ.
2. Install from play store.
3. Restore progress with google play.
4. Overwrite with mod apk.
5. Profit.
