They added something new to the app that is banning the whole device. I tried older versions and even tried your mod (offline) and it worked but the moment it connected to the internet it said 'your account has been banned' even if I freshly installed it. Is there a mod that forces the app offline?

So it turns out if you just turn off wi-fi the ban warning goes away but it seems you have to keep wi-fi off while playing (not the update warning when it connects at least once that stays until you update).

You can but do not connect the app to the internet even once. You will have to use some third party app to block it or use airplane mode. It looks like they updated all their other games recently with a ‘bug fix’ or ‘improve player experience’ which I am guessing is their anticheat.
