Upgrade your castle.

There are server side checks to protect against gaining too many stages too fast. One of them can be gotten past by upgrading your castle. The other just seems to be a hard limit on number of stages gained in a period of time, something like 30 days for 5k stages before you get throttled to like 5 or 10 stages per castle level.

Restart the game and play with disabled toggle, it will return to normal. I will try to fix this feature in the next update (unless the dev add some more protection) so it will not happen again.
