Uninstall the "files" update in apps. Before you do so, if you have any photos/videos in safe folder they'll be deleted.
I did this for Google's Files app (version 1.70.515599993), making sure Play Store doesn't redownload the update but still getting 'something is wrong, please try again later'. I remember being able to rename files and deleting them like 2 years ago using X-plore, wasn't simple as I kept having to clear cache to stop the warning message but now it seems impossible without rooting.
