原因不明の天災が世界各地で頻発し、直後に現れるようになった正体不明の鉱物――「源石＜オリジニウム＞」。
技術の発展によって、源石＜オリジニウム＞に含まれるエネルギーが産業に活用され始めると、文明は飛躍的な進歩をたどった。
しかし、それと同時に「感染者」と呼ばれる存在が世界各地で生まれはじめた。
感染者は強大な力を宿す半面、感染を広げる原因にもなる恐ろしい存在とされ、人々は彼らを忌み嫌い迫害する。
不遇な扱いを受けた一部の感染者はそれを良しとせず、この世界に新たな秩序をもたらすと反旗を翻した。
そんな混乱の中、感染者により引き起こされる全ての問題を解決すべく、医療機関「ロドスアイランド」が立ち上がった。
