This is a roguelike built around making that choice again and again.
Combat is automatic. Your character handles the fighting.
You make two calls:
What build to chase, and when to stop.
You build from scratch every run.
Weapons, Armor, Rings, and Boons are different each time, and when effects like Critical Hits, Lifesteal, chained Ring effects, and Gold-based scaling click together, auto combat plays out differently.
The better the synergy, the deeper you can go. The deeper you go, the greater the rewards.
But the dungeon knows that too.
A build that was cruising can still fall apart on a Special Floor or at the boss.
Extract before it does and you keep the rewards. Wait too long—and you'll be building again next run.
