The VM is a virtual machine environment that isolate from your phone system. You can root inside VM, install something fun, install malcious apps, etc without affecting your physical phone. There is no need to worry about the risk of viruses and system crashes, and no information can be stolen outside VM. And it can be useful to use certain apps and games that are not supported on your device

Here are the list of the app you can try. There is no such "best" app, stability and performance vary from device to device. Just try any of them until you find the one that works best for you =D

Do you know more VM app that is not listed? please let me know =D

If you are using Magisk v24 and above, use Zygisk Lsposed. Never use Riru unless you are on v23

I tested every single root VM (not cloud) and vphonegaga is the best for my specific use case (an old 32-bit unity game that isn't available on the google play store any longer - it works fine on my actual phone but I wanted to be able to get the save data transferred without really rooting the phone). I was able to set up everything fully with no internet and not giving it any unnecessary permissions (only storage, and only so I could transfer files between the real phone and the VM - I'm sure I could take it away after that was done).

Many of the other phones either refused to start with no internet (even after they were set up), or refused to start without every single permission granted (camera, mic, location, phone).

I did have a horrible experience with the unmodded version. No ads for the first day, but after that, ads that covered the entire screen and couldn't be closed. I had to turn off internet to the entire phone and not just the VM app just to get files off the VM (testing was done like this, which might explain it). I set up the modded 32bit version after that and had to set up everything again.

All testing was done on a wiped lg v20 (with android 7.0.0), and then vphonegaga was set up on my main phone (a oneplus nord n10 5g with android 11). I blocked the app from using the internet with NetGuard.

VMOS Pro: would not launch without internet. Otherwise, this one is really great - you can choose from many
ROMS, and backup/restore the entire image.

VMOS (Modded version to bypass unlocker): required all permissions

Lots of ads, no root without VIP/login:
X8 Sandbox
F1 VM

Virtual Android / 虚拟大师: resource hog

These two I had issue with because they were all in Chinese, but ultimately gave up on them for other reasons, which I can't remember
V8 Box / V8盒子
Rocket VM

twoyi (Unstable): 64-bit apps only
